Shot in one day, “The Parable” was a whirlwind experience in the desert. The idea to adapt one of Jesus’ parables was initially pitched by the conference’s media and music director. Hildebrand then took the nugget of an idea and fleshed it out; he storyboarded an adaptation and pitched it. After the concept’s approval, a small team, including Hildebrand at the camera, drove out to the desert one morning and shot all day until they had gathered every shot needed to tell this story. Hildebrand then edited the short film into a spacious and graceful visual telling of one of Jesus’ parables. John Martin created the score and sound design. “The Parable” was originally shown at the 2009 Resolved conference.
